Social Value: Cycling to Support the MND Association

Posted 20th July 2026

At Hi-Way Services, social value is about more than the services we provide. It’s about supporting our communities, standing behind important causes and helping make a positive difference wherever we can.

This July, our Contracts Manager, Warren Morgan, completed a charity cycle ride in support of the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association. The challenge was taken on in memory of Pam Bedford and to raise awareness and vital funds for everyone affected by Motor Neurone Disease.

The Story Behind the Ride

Warren completed this challenge in memory of Pam Bedford, whose life was sadly cut short by Motor Neurone Disease, and in honour of everyone whose lives have been affected by this devastating condition. Every mile was ridden with purpose, helping to raise awareness and vital funds for the MND Association.

What is Motor Neurone Disease?

Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a rare condition that affects the brain and nerves, causing muscles to gradually weaken over time. It can affect how people walk, talk, eat and breathe, and sadly there is currently no cure.

The MND Association works across England, Wales and Northern Ireland to provide practical, emotional and financial support to people living with MND and their families. The charity also funds research to improve treatments and work towards finding a cure.

An Incredible Achievement

The ride covered an impressive 73.55 miles around Canterbury and took nearly five hours to complete.

Thanks to Warren’s commitment and the generosity of everyone who donated, an incredible £4,730 was raised for the MND Association.

Every donation helps the charity continue providing specialist support, funding research and giving hope to those affected by Motor Neurone Disease.

A huge congratulations to Warren and the team on completing this incredible challenge. Raising such an amazing amount for the MND Association is a fantastic achievement, and we’re proud to celebrate his success.
