This year, Balfour Beatty Living Places, East Sussex, reached out asking if we wanted to take part in donating to their annual raffle. We of course contributed a hamper to support towards their chosen charity, Beachy Head Chaplaincy.
Who is Beachy Head Chaplaincy?
Beachy Head Chaplaincy is a Christian frontline charity offering vital support to those in crisis at Beachy Head.
Every day, their trained team walks the clifftops, simply being present, ready to stand with people whose lives are hanging in the balance. They don’t come with all the answers; they come to listen, to stay, and to help someone find even the smallest reason to step back.
The team began in 2004, founded by Ross Hardy, who witnessed first-hand the number of people arriving at the cliffs in deep distress, often alone and unseen. He wanted to create an immediate, compassionate response—something that reached people before it was too late. Over the years, the Chaplaincy has grown into a dedicated team of staff and volunteers who patrol both on foot and by car, responding to emergency calls and locating those at risk.
Their mission is simple but powerful, to reduce the loss of life to suicide at Beachy Head.
Their values remain at the heart of everything they do:
- Seeking out
- Reaching Out
- Giving Support
- Offering Hope
- Saving Lives
