Social Value: Supporting the Local Community

Posted 1st June 2026

Last Friday, we had the pleasure of carrying out a social value project for a fantastic local organisation, Hersden Community Centre.

Located in the heart of Hersden village, the community centre provides an important space where local residents can come together, access support services, attend events, learn new skills and connect with others in the community. As a business based locally, we were delighted to be able to support the centre by installing a new disabled parking bay free of charge.

About Hersden Community Centre

Hersden Community Centre is a small charity with a big impact. Run by local residents, a dedicated committee, part-time staff and volunteers, the centre works tirelessly to support people across the community.

Their team provides a welcoming environment where people can access advice, support and companionship, always with professionalism, respect and confidentiality. Where specialist assistance is needed, they work closely with trusted organisations and services to ensure individuals receive the support they require.

Supporting the Community

The centre works alongside a number of local organisations, including Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust, Canterbury Food Bank, local authorities and other charitable groups, helping to provide practical support to those who need it most.

Whether someone is looking to meet new people, learn a new skill, attend a local event or simply find a safe and welcoming place to visit, Hersden Community Centre plays an important role within the local community.

Facilities Available for Hire

In addition to its community services, the centre also offers a range of flexible spaces available for hire. From smaller meeting rooms to a fully equipped main hall and kitchen, the facilities are suitable for a variety of events, activities and gatherings.

Every booking helps support the ongoing work of the charity and contributes directly to maintaining valuable local services for residents.

Giving Back Locally

We are proud to have been able to contribute to such a worthwhile organisation by providing and installing the new disabled bay. Improving accessibility helps ensure that more members of the community can continue to access the centre and everything it has to offer.

A big thank you to everyone at Hersden Community Centre for the work they do, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact the new bay has for visitors.

Get Involved

Hersden Community Centre offers a wide range of activities and events throughout the week, helping to bring people together and create a stronger, more connected community. From arts and crafts sessions, yoga classes and line dancing to baby groups, bingo afternoons and community clubs, there is something for all ages and interests.

As a local charity, the centre relies on the support of volunteers, fundraising initiatives, room hire income and donations to continue providing valuable services to the community. Every contribution helps them maintain and develop the support they offer to local residents.
