Social Value: The Felix Project Day 2

Posted 3rd October 2025

This week marked our second volunteering day at Laurel Tree Fruit Farm in support of The Felix Project, working alongside colleagues from Balfour Beatty Living Places. The Felix Project is a London-based charity that rescues surplus food from suppliers and redistributes it to charities and schools, helping to tackle both food waste and food poverty.

It was great to see an even greater turnout this time, with around 20 volunteers taking part. Together, we worked across the farm to pick fresh pears, aiming to fill 13 pallets, but I’m almost certain we managed to collect more than that. The produce will now be distributed across London to provide healthy, nutritious meals for individuals and families who might otherwise go without.

Days like this are not only rewarding but also highlight the importance of community action. Every piece of fruit picked makes a big difference, and it’s inspiring to see how collective effort can support such a vital cause.

A big thank you for inviting us and to everyone who gave their time and energy to the day, the hard work will go on to help thousands of people across the city.
