On 11th August, Lidia spent the day volunteering alongside Balfour Beatty living places with Motiv8 in Portsmouth. A day where kids from all backgrounds join for a day of different activities.

Who are Motiv8?
Motiv8 are a UK-based youth charity with over 25 years of service, helping young people and families across Portsmouth and surrounding areas. Their approach is to help the community and young people and give them the support, space and opportunities they need to grow and feel positive about their future.
That day, she spent it helping with the tie-dye activity, each getting their own t-shirt to design, giving them all a chance to experiment with their creativity. Each activity was 45 minutes and would alternate between the four throughout the day. Lunch was provided for everyone, including staff and volunteers.
It was great to see the friendships between the staff and kids. The staff take a lot of pride in their work and really make sure each child is happy and safe, with discussion being the first task of the day and the last, talking about each individual child, their needs, requirements etc. They reintroduce themselves to the kids every morning, making it comfortable for any newcomers. It was great to see the dedication that goes into their work.
