Social Value: Food Bank Donations

Posted 26th July 2024

This month we had the opportunity to collect food donations, alongside Balfour Beatty Living Places, for Surviving the Streets UK, to help support the most vulnerable.

Who are Surviving the Streets UK?

Surviving the streets UK was founded in 2017 to help and support as many homeless and less fortunate people with hot meals, warm clothing, sleeping bags and to help people off the streets. They work 24/7 and cover areas of East Sussex but mainly in Hastings, St. Leonard’s on Sea, Eastbourne.

The charity has done some amazing work, helping over 600k people around East Sussex and given out over 260k+ meals. If you want to get involved, you can Support Here .

Their Mission

  • Combat food waste
  • Support local communities
  • Support local homeless and less fortunate
  • Support local support centres.

Our contribution

We set out to collect as much as possible within the company and managed to collect a small amount but later added to the donation by heading to the shops.

We collected a variety of tinned foods, pasta, biscuits, crisp and other sweet treats.

We also had a late donation from one of our guys on the road, Will Cheetham, who reached out to the local shops in his area, and collected an amazing amount of food.

Thank you, Will, for your help!
