In almost 30 years of operations, Hi-Way Services has grown into one of the UK’s leading road marking companies. Working with everyone from major organisations to local schools and businesses, we’ve built our reputation on the back of five fundamental principles:
- Strong customer focus and support
- Flexibility and innovation
- Excellent training and development
- Investment to improve quality and efficiency
- An ingrained Health & Safety culture
We apply the same customer-centric approach to all of our clients, providing the same quality of service and attention to detail in everything we do. By investing in our people and equipment, we also ensure that we remain on the cutting edge of road marking services, delivering the highest standard of work in the most efficient manner possible.
Our clients value our input into the development of road marking solutions, our flexibility and the wide range of services we can offer. They know that they will get great support up front, so that when the job is started they can rely on us to get it done – on time and on budget.
Social Responsibility
We are proud of our record of developing our business in what we feel is the right way. We know that excellent service and customer satisfaction don’t come from nowhere – they’re the result of a business that looks after its people, and contributes to the wider society in which we operate.
History
Originally based in Ramsgate, Kent, Hi-Way Services became an incorporated company in 1993. Operating five screed crews, one paint crew and one machine crew, Hi-Way Services worked closely with both local authorities and a broad range of private clients, including major supermarket chains. We also worked alongside much larger contractors, observing their practices and absorbing the things we admired and aspired to.
In 2004 we purchased a road marking and cats eye milling company in West Sussex. By October 2006, we had combined this company into Hi-Way Services.
By the middle of 2005, major expansions of our client base and an increase in man-power and equipment meant relocation was necessary. In the summer of 2006 we moved premises to Lakesview International Business Park, Hersden.
Not only has the on-the-road workforce significantly increased, we also have a team of surveyors who undertake to visit sites within 48-hours of enquiry, meaning the timescale between initial contact and job scheduling is second to none.
Since then, we have become the largest road marking contractor in the South East of England, and carry out work not only all over the UK but also worldwide – including work in Kenya!
In October 2008 we launched our online store, meaning that our ever-expanding company not only provides an outstanding road marking service, but also can supply equipment and products such as paint, studs and instant tarmac to our clients at highly competitive prices.
The online store has gone from strength to strength, and since becoming an official distributor for Instarmac, our sales have increased beyond all of our expectations. Ultracrete permanent pothole repair is currently our top-selling product, with pre-formed thermoplastic lines following closely in 2nd place.
In 2014 the company expanded further, operating three machine crews, three High Friction Surfacing crews, eight screed crews and one paint crew when required from our Kent depot. Our newly refurbished Sussex depot now operates five screed crews, two Road Stud milling crews and one machine crew. As of 2019, Hi-Way Services now employs more than 60 people across our multiple sites.
Since this expansion, which has proved incredibly successful, our focus has been on training and environmental awareness. We achieved ISO 14001:2004 in June 2014 and ISO 45001 in August 2019. We are keen to continue to improve and expand in the future. We have also increased our services portfolio with MMA HFS & Lining and Crack Infill repair.
The past year has seen continual upgrades and additions to our fleet, the refurbishment of one of our depots, the creation of a brand-new website and a raft of exciting projects. The future is bright for Hi-Way Services, and we hope you’ll be right there with us.
